Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price went on an epic tirade about media coverage of his team, which has struggled out of the gate, on Monday. Today, Price issued an apology of sorts, as he still stood by the point he made.

Price’s tirade actually had nothing to do with his team’s lack of success. During pregame interviews in Milwaukee, he criticized reports on Sunday that catcher Devin Mesoraco was not with the team in St. Louis on Sunday and that was why he couldn’t pinch-hit during the 2-1 loss to the Cardinals. While that report was correct, he expressed frustration, noting that, “We don't benefit at all from the other teams knowing we don't have a player.”

After some television crews left, 10 reporters stayed with Price. At that point he started his tirade, using the f-word 77 times, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer. During the rant, which lasted over five minutes, Price said that the reports were making his job harder.

“It's a f****** disgrace. I'm f****** sick of this s***,” he said at one point. “It's f****** hard enough to f****** win here to have f****** every f****** opponent know exactly what the f*** we bring to the table every day.”

Price later issued an apology, posted on the Reds’ Twitter page.

“In my pre-game conversation with reporters yesterday, I used wholly inappropriate language to describe the media coverage of our team,” Price said. “While I stand by the content of my message, I am sorry for the choice of words.”

The Reds later beat the Brewers 6-1 Monday night. The team is 6-7 in the young season so far.
