If Robert Downey Jr. wants to be asked serious questions, he would rather have them asked by Diane Sawyer. He happened to bump into her while on Live! With Kelly and Michael this morning and called it a “corrective experience with legitimate journalism.”
Downey posted a picture of him sharing a hug with Sawyer on his Instagram with that comment in the caption.
It was clearly a dig at Channel 4 reporter Krishnan Guru-Murthy who was supposed to do a softball interview with Downey about Avengers: Age of Ultron. Guru-Murthy tried to get Downey to talk about his past - which he has already done repeatedly elsewhere - during the interview. Downey got uncomfortable and left the interview.
“It’s OK... it’s just getting a little Diane Sawyer in here,” Downey told Guru-Murthy as he left.
Downey is in the middle of his media tour for Age of Ultron, which hits theaters on May 1. He was also on The Late Show with David Letterman last night, where he showed off the first picture of his baby girl, Avri Roel, who was born in November.
