Sarah Jessica Parker is officially returning to HBO, the home of Sex and the City, with her first TV series since that one ended in 2004. The premium cable network has handed out a series order for Divorce.

Work on the series started in December when HBO first put in a pilot order. It stars Parker as a middle-aged woman whose single friends think she should get a divorce even though she thinks can’t afford it. When she finally finds out that he’s already having an affair, she finally calls it quits.

The supporting cast includes Thomas Haden Church, Talia Balsam and Molly Shannon.

Divorce will be filmed in New York and the pilot was directed by Jesse Peretz. The series was written by Sharon Horgan.

Deadline reported today that the project got the series order. HBO confirmed the news by retweeting the site’s report.

Parker won four Golden Globes for Sex and the City. She was recently seen on TV in Glee and finished the movie All Roads Lead To Rome. There were also reports in June 2014 that she is developing a series called Busted.
