San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich had some glowing words about small forward Kawhi Leonard's attitude on the court.
Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News a quote from Popovich after a game against the Golden State Warriors which featured a big performance from Leonard. Popovich said that Leonard's expressionless demeanor is one of his favorite traits in the player.
"He stole it from Curry the other night, just took it from him and went down and dunked it, and his expression did not change," said Popovich. "He didn't raise his fist or look cool to the crowd or do any of this stupid-ass stuff. He just goes the other direction, like he's bored to death. I love that about him."
Leonard finished with 26 points, five rebounds, three assists, and seven steals. The reigning NBA Finals MVP may not show much emotion, but his impact on the team can't be denied. Sports Illustrated notes that without Leonard the Spurs went 8-9 while Leonard was out with a hand injury. Since Leonard's return in mid-January, the Spurs have gone 27-10 and are one of the hottest teams in the NBA.
The reigning champions appear to be back in motion as they're now just two games behind from the Houston Rockets for second place in the Western Conference. The Spurs are now the sixth seed with a record of 51-26.
