Gunnery Sergeant Connor Rutnam is the subject of this week’s NCIS: Los Angeles. Rutnam is a former marine who developed PTSD as a result of his service in war and was put in the VA hospital for care. However, when he breaks out of the hospital, the team must come together to find out why he disappeared and where he is going.

The investigation leads to a group known as the Protectors of a Free America and a former corporal named Mark Simmons who may be working with terrorists.

The episode also dealt with Deeks becoming a mentor and getting into the Big Brother/Little Brother program. At first, he is excited about the prospect of mentoring a little boy who is just like him and Sam teases his co-workers about not knowing what it is like to really have kids. The entire conversation about kids seems to make Kensi nervous, although we’re not too sure why.

We’re getting closer to the season finale of the series and are looking at this episode’s top moments. What did you like from “Field of Fire?”
