Has there ever been a more anticipated second season than True Detective’s? Probably not. Now that HBO has released a teaser, we can officially start the countdown to the premiere.
The one-minute teaser includes no dialogue, instead featuring a song over the action. We do see that Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell face off against each other several times. It also looks like the story happens over a long period of time, as Farrell is aged differently throughout.
Rachel McAdams can also be seen in full police mode and Taylor Kitsch looks really serious. The new season is set in Los Angeles with Farrell and McAdams as the detectives.
While there were some concerns that the new season might be delayed, since it took HBO so long to confirm the cast, it looks like everything was finished on time. The new season will start on June 21.
Justin Lin directed the first two episodes, while creator Nic Pizzolatto wrote all eight episodes.
True Detective’s first season featured acclaimed performances from Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, but neither of them are in the new season.
