There’s some confusion surrounding Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig’s rumored Lifetime project, due to Ferrell saying it’s been canceled but reports suggesting otherwise.
It all started when the secret project leaked, with sources saying A Deadly Adoption has already been filmed and set to air sometime this summer.
However, in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Ferrell said they would be dumping the project because of the leaks.
“We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public,” Ferrell said in a statement. “Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film.”
On the contrary, The Wrap reports the film will still air this summer, with Ferrell and his camp just trying to confuse everyone.
A Deadly Adoption is meant to play on Lifetime’s often soap opera-type films. It centers on Ferrell and Wiig as husband and wife who take in a pregnant woman (Jessica Lowndes) with plans to adopt her baby, until their plan goes awry.
It’s executive produced by Ferrell and Adam McKay under their Gary Sanchez Productions.
