In the early morning hours Selina is standing by the river keeping warm when she sees Fish approaching on a boat. Fish walks up and tells Selina that it is going to be a brand new day.
We jump ahead two weeks later and Bruce is pacing around his father’s study. The television in the background is talking about the ongoing violence between Maroni and Falcone’s families. Bruce is convinced that his father’s secret is in his study. Alfred tells him that the city is going mad right now and that he should give up this idea about his father.
Falcone arrives at the docks and is attacked. His car is blown up and he is injured in the explosion.
The GCPD is in total chaos. They have holding cells for each of Maroni and Falcone’s men. Jim checks on Barbara who is being evaluated by Leslie. Leslie recommends trauma counseling for Barbara. Barbara only agrees if Leslie will be her therapist. Leslie reluctantly agrees. Harvey tells Jim that Falcone was attacked and is in the hospital. It seems the city might be switching over to Maroni’s side.
Falcone is recovering in the hospital and notices that he is tied up. Oswald and Butch arrive. Oswald admits that he played Falcone and he is behind starting the war. He grabs a scalpel and tells Falcone he is going to replace him. Falcone’s response to him is “burn in hell!”. Oswald is a moment away from cutting Falcone’s throat when Jim arrives and places Butch and Oswald under arrest.
Jim unties Falcone and thinks that Falcone is the least worst of the two men. Jim believes under Maroni, Gotham will fall. He wants Falcone’s promise that he can stabilize and regain control of Gotham. Oswald and Butch are handcuffed and Jim is going to leave them, but Oswald reminds Jim that he owes him a big favor. Commissioner Loeb approaches with some of Maroni’s men and they have a shootout with Jim. Jim fights and kills the men as Harvey arrives. He tells Harvey they are taking Falcone to his safe house along with Oswald and Butch. They escape through an ambulance as Maroni and his men shoot at them.
Bruce and Alfred are going through everything in his father’s study looking for the secret. Leslie is giving Barbra counseling. She is still talking about her traumatic experiences involving The Ogre.
Jim and Harvey arrive with Falcone, Oswald and Butch at his safe house. He promises safety until Selina pops out and pulls a shotgun on them. They are all stunned when they see Fish walk out alive. Fish is happy to see Butch alive and talks with Maroni on the phone and says she has something he wants. We see Falcone, Jim, Harvey and Oswald are all tied up. Jim tries to get Selina to release them but she refuses, saying she doesn’t want to give up her cool new “gig.” Fish tells them she made a deal with Maroni, she has to deliver Falcone’s head. She also tells Oswald she is going to torture and kill him.
Barbara and Leslie are continuing their therapy session and Barbara starts asking some awkward questions. It gets really awkward when Barbara brings up the fact that Leslie and Jim are dating. This therapy session is getting interesting very quickly. Barbara offers to make them something to eat.
Maroni arrives at the warehouse. Oswald pleads with Fish for his life and then offers himself to spare Falcone. Maroni and Fish get into an argument about power and Fish offers a partnership with him. Maroni agrees, but continues to insult her. Fish pulls out a gun and shoots him in the head. Then a massive shootout begins as everyone scatters for cover.
Jim, Harvey and Falcone escape the warehouse and hide in a storage car. Falcone says he wants out of this business and out of Gotham. Selina finds them and brings the back to the warehouse. Fish is happy to have them back and Falcone tries telling her he is getting out of the business. Fish says she will be the ‘new queen of Gotham.’ Suddenly, Oswald shows up with a gun and starts shooting violently. He calls out Fish who is heading for the roof. He goes after her while Harvey, Jim and Falcone leave the warehouse.
This awkward therapy session between Barbara and Leslie continues. Barbara talks about what happened to her when she was with The Ogre. She talks about the affect her parents had on her and continues to make things uncomfortable when she brings up Jim. She then admits to murdering her parents while playing with a large knife. Leslie then runs away as Barbara chases her.
Leslie is locked in the bathroom with Barbara trying to get inside. Leslie shatters the mirror and grabs a large shard of glass to defend herself. The two women continue to fight and Leslie keeps hitting Barbara in the head as Jim, Harvey and Falcone arrive.
Oswald is on the roof continuing his pursuit of Fish. She jumps out and attacks him. The two fight on the roof and get to the edge of the building. Butch arrives with a gun pointed at them. They both plead with Butch why he should shoot the other. Butch shoots both of them and he immediately apologies to Fish. Oswald then knocks out Butch and then says “good-bye Fish” as he pushes her over the edge of the building. He then starts laughing and stands up and yells “I’m the king of Gotham!”
Edward is in the file room when Ms. Kringle approaches him about the letter she got from her boyfriend. She shows him how the first letter of every sentence spells out his last name. Edward says this is an odd coincidence and knows nothing about it. Ms. Kringle seems skeptical to believe him. She leaves the room and Edward seems to argue with himself. Edward seems to be very conflicted within himself right now.
Jim and Falcone talk outside on the balcony. Falcone says he will miss this city but the city doesn’t need a criminal…it needs a lawman. He says Jim is that man. He hands Jim his knife and says it belonged to Jim’s father. Falcone admits to being close to Jim’s father at one time. Falcone tells Jim that his father was the most honest man he knew, but he always carried a knife with him.
Bruce and Alfred have searched everywhere in the study and have had no luck. Bruce remembers something Lucius Fox said to him about his father being a stoic. He finds the book and inside the book he finds a remote. Bruce pushes the button and we see the fireplace move back and a secret room appears. Bruce walks inside and sees a stairwell leading down into the darkness. You can also hear bats flapping in the darkness….
