Adrian Robinson, a former NFL linebacker who had just signed a contract with a Canadian Football League team, has died. He was just 25.
The Philadelphia Inquirer first confirmed the sad news, but there was no cause of death revealed. His reps, Symmetry, also released a statement, which did not include further details either.
“It deeply saddens all of us to share with you that Adrian Robinson Jr. passed away last night at the age of 25. Adrian was a beloved father, son, brother, friend and teammate,” Symmetry’s statement read. “We ask that you please respect his family’s privacy during this difficult time, and especially keep his daughter Avery Marie in your prayers. Thank you for all of your support and consideration.”
Robinson, who was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, attended Temple University, where he played 50 games. He only played in two NFL seasons, going to the Steelers as an undrafted free agent. After the 2012 season, he was traded to the Eagles. A week after that, he was cut and signed by the Broncos. As Sports Illustrated notes, after six games with Denver, he spent the rest of the 2013 season with the Chargers and Redskins.
Robinson didn’t play in 2014, but was ready to return to football in 2015. He just signed a deal with the CFL Hamilton Tiger-Cats in April.
