Avengers: Age of Ultron has earned 187.7 million during its debut weekend and now has the second highest grossing opening in movie history. It's only competition? The first Avengers film.
Ultron has grossed over $627 million worldwide in just 12 days. Early predictions for the film had it making over $220 million.
Variety reported that The Avengers back in 2012 grossed $207.4 million during its opening weekend.
Ultron did surpass another Marvel property, Iron Man 3, which held the second spot with $174.1 million at the box office.
Coming in second place at the box office this weekend was Blake Lively's Age of Adeline and in third place was the current champion, Furious 7 earning an additional $6.1 million. This brings the films total to $330.5 million domestically and worldwide it has grossed over $1.4 billion.
Disney has additional movies on deck for a summer release including, Tomorrowland, Inside Out and Ant Man in July, CNN reported.
