Barbra Streisand is finally set to release a memoir, sharing the stories of her long career in the entertainment business with readers.
Viking announced the new book today, but did not release a title. According to USA Today, the book will be out in 2017.
Streisand was born in Brooklyn and is one of the few members of the EGOT club, notes The New York Times, although her Tony is an honorary award for “Star of the Decade.”
She has Oscars for her performance in Funny Girl and co-writing the song “Evergreen (Love Theme From A Star Is Born).” She has five Emmys, winning her first in 1964, and eight Grammys.
Books about Streisand are “full of myths and inaccuracies, and she is finally going to tell her own story,” Viking president Brian Tart said in a statement.
Streisand just released her latest studio album, Partners, and still tours. Her film credits also include Yentl, Hello Dolly!, The Way We Were, A Star Is Born and the Fockers comedies. She made her most recent film appearance in The Guilt Trip with Seth Rogen.
It will be interesting to see how detailed she is about her personal life. She was first married to actor Elliott Gould and is currently married to actor James Brolin.
