Cary Fukunaga has left the upcoming production of Stephen King's It. New Line Cinema is working on a two-part adaptation of the King work and Fukunaga was set to direct.

The Wrap reported that many sources close to the project have said that the project will not be moving forward as planned this summer and the release date has been pushed indefinitely. The film was about to go into production in mid-June.

Fukunaga, True Detective, reportedly disagreed with the studio and he had a different artistic view for the film, which had already received budget cuts. The studio is holding firm on the films $30 million budget.

Part of the cast had already been set on the film, Will Poult will be playing the role of Pennywise the Clown, People added. Poult is best known for his role in We're The Millers. Tim Curry originally played the role of Pennywise in the ABC miniseries.
