Known as Nev Schulman's sidekick and cameraman on MTV’s Catfish, Max Joseph has broken out onto his own director project, known as #WAYF. We Are You Friends, #WAYF, is Joseph’s first feature film which was just assigned a release date for Aug. 28.

Joseph, showing off his camera skills, made a creative short video at a bookstore to announce the big news. He emphasizes that #WAYF will be available in theaters worldwide come fall of this year. The new-age film’s star, Zac Efron, tweeted out the message to his followers, paired with a photo of cast and crew members, one of which included Shiloh Fernandez who plays Ollie. The film, starring Zac Efron and Emily Ratajkowski, involves a DJ who aims to make it big in the Los Angeles electronic dance music scene.

“It’s really a story about that transition from being a kid to being an adult in today’s world and what that means. Music and festivals and DJs are kind of the cultural touchstones that we’re seeing right now on MTV and social media — we wanted to make a movie about growing up and have that type of music be the pulse of the story. It’s not just about falling for forbidden love, it’s about mentors and protégés and respect for the artists that have come before you and finding your voice. It’s disengaging the people and things you love that might not be good for you. It’s about a lot,” Joseph told MTV.

Over the course of filming, Efron and Joseph have developed into more than just professional coworkers, they’ve started a bromance.

During an MTV interview, Joseph said this about the former Disney star, “He’s amazing. He is a world-class person. He’s the first person to say hello to everyone and he’s the furthest thing from a prima donna. He’s extremely professional, always in a good mood and keeps things light. He loves the crew. He’s a trooper, and we have a good time.”

Watch out Nev, looks like Zac might be intruding on the Catfish duo. The two were photographed laughing hysterically shirtless, while on set. If that doesn’t scream friendship, then what does? Get ready to see how the film comes together when it hits theaters Aug. 28.
