Singer Enrique Iglesias and actor Elyes Gabel are celebrating their birthdays today, May 8.
Enrique Iglesias, 40
Singer, songwriter, actor and record producer Enrique Iglesias turns 40 today. Iglesias started his career in the Latin American music industry. In 1999, he made a crossover into the American music industry and released the single "Bailamos" for the film Wild Wild West. The song went on to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
After signing with Interscope records, Iglesias released his English debut album, Enrique. His single, "Be With You," became his second song to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2001, he released his second English album, Escape. His single "Hero" peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and hit No. 1 in the UK.
Iglesias went on to release several Spanish and English speaking albums. His most recent, Sex and Love, was released in 2014 and peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart. The single "Bailando," peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned him numerous awards including Song of the Year from the Latin Grammy Awards and the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
Iglesias also transitioned into acting, making guest appearances in America's Next Top Model, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men and the film Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

Elyes Gabel, 32
Film, television and theater actor and singer Elyes Gabel turns 32 today. Gabel dropped out of high school to pursue his acting career. He first appeared in the children's television show I Love Mummy. He went on to theater, appearing in productions of West Side Story, Oliver! and Diary of Anne Frank.
From 2004 to 2007, Gabel joined the cast of Casualty. He went on to star in the BBC series Apparitions and the horror series Dead Set. He went on to star as Rakharo in the HBO series Game of Thrones and had a recurring role in the ABC drama Body of Proof.
Gabel also transitioned into film acting, appearing in the films Kingdom of Dust, Welcome to the Punch, World War Z, Interstellar and A Most Violent Year.
Gabel currently stars as Walter O'Brien in the CBS drama Scorpion and is in a relationship with co-star Katharine McPhee.
