After over a decade off the air, we're getting an X-Files reboot early next year, and David Duchovny said that the script for the first episode made him pretty emotional.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Duchovny said he just recently got the first script, and that he cried reading the first page.
The actor specified that it wasn't really anything in the actual script that made him cry. He was just overwhelmed with the idea that he was back doing The X-Files again after all this time.
"It was so strange to see the names on the page," he said.
In terms of the actual script, Duchovny refused to give up any details, simply confirming that it's fantastic.
And while at first it seemed like the new X-Files would just be a limited run event series, it now seems like there's a strong possibility of it continuing on past these six episodes. According to Screen Crush, Duchovny said that he'd certainly be open to doing more, and that they didn't bring the show back just to end it again.
Entertainment Weekly also confirmed that William B. Davis will return as the mysterious Smoking Man in the new series.
The X-Files reboot will air on Fox this January.
