Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson surprised a superfan – and Screen Junkies journalist - who thought he was interviewing the actor to promote San Andreas by actually officiating his wedding.
They became close friends after a handful of interviews together and on the day Nick Mundy thought he was attending a press junket to interview Johnson again, he got the surprise of a lifetime.
They set it up so that Mundy would be denied entrance into the junket while Johnson was preparing with the reporter’s fiancé and family.
“My first thought was, Oh, s--t. I hope Dilara is cool with this,’” Mundy told The Hollywood Reporter about his fiancé. “The second one was, 'I have hat hair, I'm sweating and wearing American flag pants.'"
It all went down quickly for Mundy as soon as he realized what was happening, so he didn’t exactly have time to prepare.
“Then my best man and writing partner threw my jacket on me, and the next thing I know, the Rock was walking me down the aisle and the music was starting and I signed the marriage license. The whole thing was insane,” he said.
Mundy and Johnson’s interviews for the Screen Junkies YouTube Channel have about 2 million views in total.
