Everyone feels touched when people are helping one another. Theres nothing like lending a hand, giving your last dollar or feeding a starving person. Celebrities have money and fame to help something like kindness go a long way. This weeks spotlight is on Elton John.
Last Friday was the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s annual Hot Pink Party: The Pink Standard and there were quite a few celebrities who were present. Elton John, who has been a long time supporter of BCRF was among the charitable celebrities at this soiree to battle breast cancer.
BCRF was founded in 1993 by the late Evelyn H. Lauder. Evelyn’s husband, Leonard Lauder, was honored at the event.
John has helped the cause for nearly the last fifteen years by supporting and performing. Last year, he did a duet with Sara Bareilles.
“Continuing the extraordinary legacy of my dear friend Evelyn Lauder has been an honor,” Elton said in a statement. “Leonard has been a powerful force in bringing us closer to the end of breast cancer and it is with great pleasure and respect that we honor him tonight for his leadership at BCRF.”
The Waldorf Astoria in New York City was the primary location that hosted the gala event this year. The Hot Pink Party was hosted by Elizabeth Hurley, a Global Ambassador for The Estee Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. Tony Bennett performed and Neil Patrick Harris was one of the celebrities showing support to the cause.
The event helped raise nearly $7 million for breast cancer research with John being one of the primary supporters.
