Fox executives were up early this morning, unveiling the network's plans for the 2015-2016 TV season. However, what didn’t make the fall schedule is probably more interesting than what did.
Many of Fox’s most anticipated projects won’t start until January. New Girl will not be back for a fifth season until that month so there will be no reruns during the season. The X-Files will return on Sunday, Jan. 24 after the NFC Championship Game and another episode will air the following night.
Lucifer, based on the DC/Vertigo comic, has also been held to midseason. Also being held for next year is The Frankenstein Code, The Guide to Surviving Life and the animated Bordertown.
With that out of the way, let’s dissect what actually will air in the fall.
Mondays will see Gotham back in the same Monday 8 p.m. slot. Instead of being paired with Sleepy Hollow or the now-cancelled The Following, it will be paired with Minority Report, a new series based on the cult Steven Spielberg sci-fi movie.
Tuesdays will still be comedies, but Fox is being adventurous by only airing all-new shows. John Stamos’ Grandfathered and Rob Lowe’s The Grinder will be paired with Scream Queens, the new series from American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy.
Rosewood, a new medical drama starring Morris Chestnut, will be paired with Empire on Wednesdays.
Thursdays will feature Bones and Sleepy Hollow.
Sundays will stay practically the same, with Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Family Guy all returning. Will Forte’s Last Man On Earth will get a fall berth, airing at the end of Sunday nights.
