Former Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are looking to get back on TV as soon as possible and Netflix might be the perfect venue. They even have a great title in mind - House of Cars.
After the BBC decided not to renew Clarkson’s contract in March, May and Hammond joined him in leaving Top Gear, along with executive producer Andy Wilman. The BBC said it does plan on airing Clarkson’s last Top Gear episodes.
Meanwhile, The Daily Mirror reports that Clarkson, May, Hammond and Wilman are talking with Netflix and ITV about producing a new show for the streaming service. A friend told the Mirror that they plan on calling the show House of Cars as a nod to House of Cards.
However, the show would have to rely heavily on advertising within the show, which could be a problem since Clarkson is well-known for not hiding his opinions.
While they aren’t making TV shows at the moment, The Guardian notes that the former Top Gear trio is working on a life show and have posted videos on YouTube with stunts. Because who doesn’t like seeing a piano dropped on a car?
What’s next for the real Top Gear? BBC2 is planning on reinventing the show with new hosts.
