While the show has lost sponsors, TLC and Discovery are undecided about the future of 19 Kids and Counting and its relationship with the Duggar family. The show has been mired in controversy since Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s oldest son Josh admitted to molesting young girls as a teen.
According to reports from Variety and People, TLC is looking for some way to bring back the Duggar family, even if it’s not as another season of 19 Kids and Counting.
That title may have been damaged beyond repair, so sources for the sites suggest that TLC would focus on other members of the Duggar family. A source for People said that the show would focus on Jill and Jessa, the oldest daughters, who are also married and starting families of their own.
A source for Variety said that 19 Kids is not in production. The show wrapped its latest season earlier this month and TLC has pulled repeats from the schedule. The network wants to let the family deal with the crisis themselves, which is probably why TLC isn’t moving as fast as it did with Here comes Honey Boo Boo last fall.
On Tuesday, General Mills, Walgreens, Choice Hotels and Payless ShoeSource pulled their sponsorship of 19 Kids.
