Julia Roberts made her last appearance on the Late Show this week before David Letterman retires. She appeared on the show 26 times during her career, first appearing on the show to promote 1988’s Mystic Pizza.
She first appeared on the show with some trepidation but they soon struck up a funny repertoire with each other over the years, kissing many times on the lips. Of course, a montage was shown of these kisses at the end of their interview and the inevitable happened.
“As a fan of the show, did not want to come on because I had seen you absolutely dismember young actresses of my kind of peer group," she told Letterman. She then told him he didn’t end up acting that way to her, “thus the 26th appearance.”
After the montage of kisses rolled, Letterman brought Roberts over to the main stage and gave her one last kiss. “I know where this is going!” she exclaimed on the way over.
At the conclusion of their kiss, she thanked him for the “joy and the laughs and the intelligence” he brought to late night over the past three decades.
