Katy Perry is angry with the Australian Daily Telegraph, which repurposed a three-year-old interview in some weird attempt to grab headlines. It worked, as many sites picked up on the quote about her not hearing from her ex-husband, Russell Brand.

The Daily Telegraph published an interview with Chris Knowles with the date May 23, 2015 and no mention of where or when he sat down with the “Roar” singer. One part of the interview that grabbed headlines on Monday was Perry’s revelation that she had not talked to Brand since he texted her the news that he’s filing for divorce.

It did seem a bit fishy that suddenly Perry would start talking about Brand. Both the singer and the comedian haven’t talked about each other much since the divorce in 2011. The interview also includes quotes from Perry about Part of Me, her 2012 3D movie, and her breakthrough song “I Kiss A Girl.” There are no direct references to PRISM or the tour she’s currently on to promote the album.

Perry was clearly annoyed at this. She revealed on Twitter that the interview was done three years ago.

Adding more mystery as to why this was published now is the fact that Perry doesn’t have any Australian tour dates scheduled. Her next tour stops aren’t until September in South America.
