Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs wanted to show off his girlfriend, Cassie, to the world in a new fragrance commercial for Macy’s, but he was showing off a bit too much for the retailer. He reportedly had to edit the commercial because it was too racy.

The ad shows Combs and Cassie in several short scenes that included nudity and simulated sex. There was also a shot of a nipple ring. The New York Post’s Page Six even reports that police broke up the shoot in Los Angeles because it went on too long.

“The full-length version includes such provocative images that retailers were concerned about young customers seeing [them],” a source told the Post. “The required edits almost delayed the [fragrance] launch.”

The source said that Combs wanted it released to cable networks anyway, but he was unable to do that.

Combs eventually agreed to make changes, even though it could have delayed the launch of his 3AM fragrance. That won’t happen though, since apparently the tame edit is ready to go and will be shown in stores when the fragrance launches this week. A rep for Macy’s did confirm that edits were made.

The ads weren’t originally going to feature Cassie, but Combs told Ellen DeGeneres that he didn’t have chemistry with the actress originally hired.

Diddy and Cassie have been dating since 2007 and there were rumors that they were engaged last year when he posted a picture of an engagement ring on Instagram. However, that didn’t mean that they were ready to tie the knot.

Combs is also working on an animated series for FX.
