Maya Rudolph delivered an unforgettable commencement address to the graduating class of 2015 at Tulane University, channeling her Saturday Night Live character Pamela Bell with a little bit of Beyonce thrown in for good measure.
While singing the national anthem as Bell, she veered off a few times to throw in some Beyonce songs like “Drunk in Love” and “Single Ladies.”
She didn’t stop there with the impressions – she also impersonated Oprah Winfrey when she said, "And today, class of 2015, look under your seats because you are all leaving here with a college diploma! You get a diploma, and you get a diploma, and you get a diploma! We're all getting diplomas!"
The Hollywood Reporter reports Rudolph’s cousin, Sabrina Rudolph, was in the audience and part of the graduating class. Her father, Richard Rudolph, graduated in 1968.
She brought up her father at one point while addressing fears some of the graduates might have about carving their own path in the world.
“I never wanted to admit that being on [Saturday Night Live] was my dream. I never wanted to admit that I was a thespian," she said. "And my dad did what any great teacher would do. He looked at me, un-phased, and said, 'Great. And how do you plan to support yourself while you figure that out? And when are you going to wash your feet?'"
