McDreamy fans might not have a long wait for Patrick Dempsey’s return to television. After over a decade on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, the actor wants to stick with the small screen and is searching for another job.
Dempsey is currently taking meetings around the industry to find the perfect place for another, longer job, according to an Entertainment Weekly report. He might even be open to joining new shows that are already in the works or returning shows. One casting network executive even told the magazine that, “I can definitely see him ending up on something in the fall.”
That does seem a bit overconfident, but Dempsey does already have another project in the works. He is currently producing The Limit at Sundance TV, which centers on car racing in the 1960s. Another project he’s producing is a spy thriller called Fodors.
“I think Patrick Dempsey is really talented and comes off as extremely likable,” a writer told EW. “He had his career-defining role in McDreamy, which played to all his strengths, but ultimately he isn’t worth it.”
Dempsey’s Derek character was killed off on Grey’s, even though he had another season left on his two-year contract deal. He played the character for 11 seasons, but he’s certainly capable of getting another role. Considering that over 100,000 people want him revived on Grey’s, his next project will certainly garner extra attention.
