If you ever get the chance to meet Pope Francis in person, what happened on last night's Game of Thrones probably isn't a good conversation topic.

According to Time, Pope Francis says he hasn't watched TV since 1990. In fact, he recalls the exact date that he decided to give it up: July 15, 1990.

That's a really specific date, but the pope didn't reveal what the last show he watched was or what exactly made him make the decision. Was it a particularly offensive episode of The Simpsons? Perhaps he was left frustrated by the Twin Peaks season finale?

He said that on that date, he said to himself "no es para mi," meaning "it's not for me," and promised the Virgin Mary he wouldn't watch anymore. Does he just mean scripted shows, or is he referring to sports too?

Well, Pope Francis is a big football fan, but apparently there are no exceptions to his rule. According to The Daily Mail, the pope said he doesn't watch football games either, instead having a Swiss Guard update him on the scores.

He also said that he doesn't go on the Internet, only reading a newspaper called La Repubblica for ten minutes every morning.

Pope Francis is known for his famously simple lifestyle, stripping back the papacy as much as possible. But a life without Lost or The Sopranos? That's hard for us to imagine.
