Celebrity chef, Sandra Lee, has revealed a breast cancer diagnosis. She will be undergoing a double mastectomy this week.
Lee, 48, revealed the March diagnosis on Tuesday’s Good Morning America. She found out after going for a routine mammogram.
Andrew Cuomo’s longtime partner has DCIS, or ductal carcinoma in situ, which is usually treated with a lumpectomy then radiation.
However, she told People she opted for the mastectomy because she preferred not to go through radiation. "I never want to go through this again,” she also said.
"Life can turn on a dime,” Lee explained, with Cuomo adding about being by her side this week, “This is about her feeling secure and loved.”
During an interview in 2012, Lee told us about living a healthy lifestyle, “I try to teach my viewers is to enjoy their life and give them options. My job is not to tell them or dictate to them what they’re going to do or how they should do it. I don’t think that works this day in age.
I think what our jobs are, or anybody who is in the public eye or anyone who people look to for advice, our job is to share options and let you chose what works for you.”
