Scott Stapp, the frontman for Creed, is revealing he has bipolar disorder after a series of scary incidents starting from even before the start of 2015.
After months of chaos, which started in Nov. 2014, his family and friends tried to get through to him to no avail. He eventually got help and describes it as a “psychotic break.”
Stapp told People it was “brought on by alcohol and drug abuse.”
"I was hallucinating. I drove around the United States for a month, following an angel that I saw on the hood of my car,” he explained. “I thought my family was involved in ISIS, and that millions of dollars had been taken from me to support terrorism.”
He first claimed he was broke in a bizarre video, then a 911 call his ex-wife placed in December revealed he believed he was a CIA agent and threatened to kill President Obama.
He’s now sober and on medication for bipolar disorder. He’s thankful he was diagnosed in therapy, calling it a “big sign of relief, because finally, we had an answer."
