ABC just announced that they would be renewing their hit show Castle and now reports are saying that actress Stana Katic will be returning for season eight.

Variety reported that Katic, who plays Detective Kate Beckett on the show, had been in negotiations for a while before she closed her deal. Her co-star and television husband, Nathan Fillion, also is coming back and his contract was finalized in April.

The series will also see a different show runner. David Amann, who took the reigns after Andrew Marlowe had six seasons with the show.

Two showrunners will be taking his place, Terence Paul Winter, who produces and writes for the show, and Alexi Hawley, who was the creator of the now canceled State of Affairs.

As previously reported, Castle joined a list of around 22 shows that were set to come back during the 2015-2016 television season.

News that Katic is returning to the series comes after the announcement she married long-time boyfriend Kris Brkljac in a private ceremony.

In addition to Katic coming back, ABC boss Paul Lee said that for both Castle and Grey’s Anatomy, when asked if the shows were ending anytime soon, he denied this. He said, “I would like to see them run for many, many seasons to come…they have incredibly passionate audiences.”
