Today is Star Wars day and one of the earliest celebrations to mark the holiday came in Melbourne, Australia. At a mall there, LEGO Master Builders Dan and Chris Steininger, along with fans, helped build the largest Millennium Falcon LEGO model.
It took two days to complete, using around 250,000 grey bricks to put Han Solo’s piece of junk together. According to The Age in Australia, it measures five meters wide (about 16 feet).
This type of model would take a week to build, but the fans on hand helped. “We certainly couldn't have finished without them,” Dan Steininger told The Age.
There are also two large TIE Fighter models on display with the Falcon at the Westfield Southland shopping center.
Of course, LEGO builders have put together other huge Star Wars models. In May 2013, a life-size LEGO X-Wing was built in Times Square. That model weighed 46,000 pounds and had a 44-foot wingspan.
