Stephen Colbert auctioned off the desk and set from The Colbert Report, but it wasn’t just to grow his bank account. Instead, the future Late Show host donated the proceeds from the auction to South Carolina education projects.

Colbert said on Thursday that $800,000 will be used to fund every grant request listed on DonorsChoose.org by educators from his shomestate of South Carolina. The Associated Press notes that some of donations from Share Fair Nation and ScanSource also contributed to the effort.

“Using the proceeds of the sale of my old set on The Colbert Report which we auctioned off, and with the generous matching funds from The Morgridge Family Foundation and ScanSource, DonorsChoose is going to flash-fund all 1,000 projects in South Carolina,” Colbert said in a video that was shown at Alexander Elementary School in Greenville, South Carolina, reports TheWrap. “Enjoy your learning, South Carolina.”

Colbert is on the DonorsChoose.org board of directors. He is featured in the following video, which explains how the site works.

The Report ended in December. Colbert will take over CBS’ Late Show later this year.
