Taylor Swift is opening up about her point of view on relationships, which has matured over the years. She’s gone through some public break-ups and has stayed single in recent years up until her newest relationship with Calvin Harris.
The “Style” singer graces the June cover of Elle and admitted her first love songs were based off of what she’s seen in movies or hearsay from others who have experienced it, but she had never been in love herself.
“Once I fell in love, or thought I was in love, and then experienced disappointment or it just not working out a few times, I realized there's this idea of happily ever after which in real life doesn't happen,” she explained.
“Now I have more of a grasp on the fact that when you're in a state of infatuation and you think everything that person does is perfect, it then—if you're lucky—morphs into a real relationship when you see that that person is not in fact perfect, but you still want to see them every day,” Swift continued.
She went on to reveal the song “You Are In Love,” which is about lovers being best friends, is about her friend Lena Dunham’s relationship with Jack Antonoff.
“I think that that kind of relationship—God, it sounds like it would just be so beautiful—would also be hard. It would also be mundane at times,” she said.
One thing is for sure - her rumored relationship with Calvin Harris isn't mundane. They've been seen out everywhere from New York City to Nashville to California in recent weeks.
