Tom Hardy is currently promoting his latest feature film, Mad Max: Fury Road but it turns out that Hardy's life could have taken a very different turn.
In a recent interview with Essentials magazine, Hardy explained that he is lucky to even be alive. He explained that he was once "a shameful statistic."
Yahoo New Zealand reported that Hardy was very open about his struggle with drugs and how now he lives a sober lifestyle.
"I was told very clearly, 'You go down that road, Tom, you won't come back. That's it. All you need to know,' " Hardy said. "And that message stayed with me clearly for the rest of my days." said Hardy. "I would have sold my mother for a rock of crack."
Now the Mad Max star is married to fellow English actress Charlotte Riley and has been enjoying his sobriety.
During the interview he also said that it wasn't until he put on muscle and started intense workouts that he was noticed in Hollywood, People reported. "The trouble with Hollywood is that they want you to be something, then they think you're who they wanted you to be," explained Hardy.
