If you still don’t think that the Wet Hot American Summer Netflix series is actually happening, photos released today should convince you otherwise. The images confirm that big stars like Bradley Cooper and Paul Rudd did find time to appear in the follow-up to the cult 2001 comedy.
Netflix gave the pics to Buzzfeed first, confirming that the show is actually a prequel series, even though everyone is over 10 years older than they were in the original. Subtitled First Day At Camp, it shows how the Camp Firewood staff started off that summer of 1981.
Amy Poehler and Cooper are back to play Susie and Ben, while Elizabeth Banks is still baring her midriff as Linsday. Rudd and Marguerite Moreau are seen together as Andy and Katie again and Christopher Meloni is still showing off Gene’s dance moves.
Other pictures include Molly Shannon, Nina Hellman, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio.
A roster of new faces have also joined in on the fun, although they are nowhere to be seen in the photos. Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Jason Schwartzman, Chris Pine and John Slattery are all making appearances.
Original star/co-writer Michael Showalter and original director David Wain created the new series, which is set to debut on July 31. It runs just eight episodes, which is more than enough to bring the story up to the time of the film.
