WNBA players and newlyweds Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson have been suspended by the league for their domestic violence arrests last month.

According to the Associated Press, both Griner and Johnson were handed a seven-game suspension in which the league cited the integrity of the game when announcing the punishment.

As previously reported, the two were arrested April 22 in Arizona on suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct when officers arrived at their home after a fight.

Despite their alleged bloody altercation and what Griner called relationship problems, the couple got married just last week.

The AP also noted that in addition to their suspensions, Griner entered a diversion agreement pleading guilty to disorderly conduct and is set to attend 26 weeks of domestic violence counseling.

As for Johnson, her case has been transferred to a county court and is still pending at this time.

With all the talk the subject of domestic violence has gotten in professional male sports lately, this move has shown that it will not be tolerated in women’s professional sports either.
