Don't worry, Hannibal fans. If the rumors are to be believed, it looks like the show isn't quite dead yet.
According to Exstreamist, Hulu and Amazon are engaged in a bidding war over the rights to pick up Hannibal for a fourth season.
Moving to either streaming service would make a lot of sense for the show. Amazon Prime owns the exclusive rights to Seasons 1 and 2 of Hannibal, while Hulu is currently streaming the third season. Hannibal is also one of those shows with a passionate online fanbase but poor television ratings. That was true of Community, another NBC cult show that moved online and did fairly well, so it would make a lot of sense for Hannibal to follow suit.
As we previously reported, NBC cancelled Hannibal last week due to low ratings, but series creator Bryan Fuller immediately assured fans that the show could live on. Producer Martha De Laurentiis also confirmed on Twitter that they were exploring all possible options.
Regardless of where it ends up, though, it seems there's a pretty good chance Hannibal will have some sort of future online.
