Arnold Schwarzenegger got candid about his divorce from Maria Shriver during an appearance on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show.
It was revealed in 2011 that Schwarzenegger had fathered a child with his family’s housekeeper over a decade ago, which marked the end of his marriage to Shriver.
“This was without any doubt the biggest setback and the biggest failure. You really feel like: ‘I’m to blame for it. It was me that screwed up.’ You can’t point the finger at anyone else,” he told Stern, Washington Post reports.
When Stern asked if he saw a therapist, he said he did and it was the “biggest mistake I’ve ever made,” adding “that guy was so full of s—.”
Schwarzenegger, who’s currently promoting Terminator: Genisys, said Shriver “talked me into it” but he felt it was “counterproductive to our future relationship.”
Although therapy was “not helpful” they did eventually get their relationship back on track. They share four children and are now friends despite all that has happened.
“That is the relationship I was really looking forward to after this complicated bump,” he told Stern.
