Just after telling us how many more episodes of Arrested Development we will get, producer Brian Grazer said that the beloved Bluth family might be back by next year.
During an appearance on comedian Adam Carolla’s podcast today, Grazer - whose Imagine Entertainment with Ron Howard co-produces the series with 20th Century Fox TV - said that Netflix is desperate to get the show back for a fifth season.
“Netflix is determined to do more episodes, so we’re going to do more episodes,” Grazer said. Production on the show will start in the first quarter of 2016, with the episodes available shortly after production wraps.
Grazer made a point to say that it is tough to work around the schedules of the show’s stars, which is made painfully obvious during the first season on Netflix. Season four rarely featured the entire Bluth family in a single episode, leading to a fractured nature that made it hard for the season to live up to expectations.
In April, Grazer said that the new season would feature 17 episodes, two more than season four.
The series was created by Mitch Hurwitz and first aired on Fox from 2003-2006. Season four was posted on Netflix in 2014. The ensemble cast features Michael Cera, Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Arnett, Portia De Rossi, Alia Shawkat, David Cross, Tony Hale and Jessica Walter.
