Avril Lavigne is updating her fans on her health following confirmation that she has Lyme disease back in April. She appeared on Good Morning America on Monday and said she was doing much better.

As we previously reported, the “Hello Kitty” singer said she was “bedridden” for months before her Lyme diagnosis, and she’s now getting emotional talking about it for the first time on camera.

“This is what they do to a lot of people who have Lyme disease, they don’t have an answer for them so they tell them, like, ‘your crazy,'” she explained through tears, saying doctors first thought she was depressed, TheWrap reports.

She said she was seeing “every specialist,” which included the “top doctors” but no one had an answer for her. Now that she’s getting the appropriate treatment, she’s feeling much more optimistic about her life.

“I’m about halfway through my treatment, and I’m doing a lot better and seeing a lot of progress,” she said, adding, “I’m so excited for life after this.”
