Woah baby, Benedict Cumberbatch is a dad!
The actor and his wife Sophie Hunter welcomed their first child on Saturday. A rep for Cumberbatch told People Magazine the exciting news about the couples little bundle of joy, whose name as yet to be announced.
“Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son,” his rep said in a statement. “We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during these next few precious weeks.”
The couple announced they would be expecting their first child in January, only two months after announcing their engagement, and the parents-to-be could not have been more thrilled.
“I am delighted to confirm that Benedict and Sophie are expecting their first child,” his rep announced. “They are both over the moon.”
The new parents surprised everyone when they secretly wed earlier this year on Valentine’s Day. They had been engaged for three months and managed to keep their nuptials “very quiet” from the press. Cumberbatch and Hunter tied the knot in England on the Isle of Wight. A source described the wedding as being a “magical day.”
We’re excited to see which names the actors have chosen for their new son.
