Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie movie 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' becoming a reality TV show

For some reason, the 2005 Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith is becoming a reality TV show.

Deadline reported that ABC has picked up Mr. and Mrs. Smith, a reality competition show that will pit married couples against one another in a "high-octane, high-stakes game."

So then...nothing like the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith? ABC offered no further details, but from this description it sounds like the TV show will barely be based off the movie, with the only similarity being they're both about a married couple working against each other.

A scripted Mr. & Mrs. Smith TV series was discussed back in 2007, but that never ended up happening, so this looks like the closest ABC was able to get to making more of that franchise.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which followed two married assassins hired to kill each other, opened in 2005 and made nearly $500 million, so it does make some sort of sense why ABC would want to latch on to that name recognition.
