Now that Bruce Jenner has officially come forward as Caitlyn Jenner, the former Olympian explained how her marriage to Kris Jenner came to an end. In her cover interview with Vanity Fair, Caitlyn said that the split was about how Kris was treating her, although Kris disagrees.

In the interview, per Us Weekly, Caitlyn explained that for the majority of the marriage, she felt that she was the breadwinner in the family. However, when E!’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians debuted, their relationship changed.

“Then really around the show, when that hit and she was running this whole show and getting credit for it and she had her own money, she didn’t need me as much from that standpoint. The relationship was different,” Caitlyn told Vanity Fair. “I think in a lot of ways she became less tolerant of me. Then I’d get upset and the whole relationship kind of fizzled."

She later said that Kris “wasn’t very nice” and that “People would see how I got mistreated. She controlled the money … all that kind of stuff.”

Kris was interviewed for the magazine to give her side of the story, which was very different. She claims that Caitlyn “had a lot of social anxiety” at the end of their marriage because of the gender transition.

“Why would you want to be married and have kids if this is what you wanted since you were a little boy?” Kris said. “Why would you not explain this all to me?"

Caitlyn insists that the gender transition was only partly to blame for the split. “Twenty percent was gender and 80 percent was the way I was treated,” she said.

Caitlyn first confirmed that she was a woman in an interview with Diane Sawyer in April, but didn’t debut as Caitlyn until the Vanity Fair cover was unveiled on Monday. Other members of the Kardashian and Jenner family have voiced their support on social media.
