We’ve watched Chris Pratt completely transform his body for film roles, but it turns out the transformation has done wonders on his health.
He weighed almost 300 pounds at one point while he was filming Parks and Recreation and told the July issue of Men’s Health UK how negatively effected he was by the extra weight.
“I was impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed,” he revealed. “I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way. It’s bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit.”
Pratt is now part of the cast of one of the most anticipated films of the year, Jurassic World, but it took seeing himself on-screen in Zero Dark Thirty to make him realize his true potential as an action star.
“I’d gone back and forth, lost weight for Moneyball, got fat again, then trimmed down for Zero Dark Thirty, then gained it all back again for Andy,” he said about his Parks and Rec character. “That's when I saw Zero Dark Thirty and right after walking out I was like: ‘I'm going to get in shape and I'm never going to be fat again.’”
He has kept the weight off with a drastic diet change and a strict workout regimen.
