Chris Squire, one of the founding members of the band Yes, has passed away at the age of 67 after a battle with cancer.
As previously reported, just last month, Squire announced he would be undergoing treatment for Acute Erythroid Leukemia instead of going on the band’s North American tour. He returned home to Phoenix, AZ for treatment.
The keyboardist for the band, Geoff Downes, delivered the sad news on his Twitter account. He told followers he was “Utterly devastated beyond words to have to report the sad news of the passing of my dear friend, bandmate and inspiration Chris Squire.
Taking to their official Facebook page, the band confirmed the sad news. He is survived by his wife, Scotty, and five children.

Rolling Stone reported that in 1968, the band came to fruition with the meeting of Squire and John Anderson in London. After taking on more members and then gaining replacements, the band made it big in 1971 with the album The Yes Album followed the next year by Fragile.
Squire continued to stay with the band as their bassist even as new members would come and go.
