Ellie Goulding is finally setting the record straight regarding her love triangle with Ed Sheeran and One Direction's Niall Horan.

Rumors of this love triangle between the musicians began last year when after the release of Sheeran's song "Don't," which he made seem was about Horan stealing Goulding away from him after several interviews.

E! News reported that the "Love Me Like You Do" singer sat down with Elle U.K. and discussed her dating history.

"I did go on a few dates with Niall but I was never in a relationship with Ed," she told the magazine. "I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing."

In May, Sheeran tried to clear up the rumors in an interview with Entertainment Weekly after being asked if he regretted letting it slip that his song was about Goulding and Horan.

"What happened was one of the newspapers in England just printed that it was confirmed when it never was," he recalled. "We got in touch, and they took the story down. But obviously the damage had already been done by that point because every other newspaper picked up on it. So I never actually confirmed it."
Though the truth as been set free, Goulding still feels the sting of the allegations. As a successful singer-songwriter, she feels this type of gossip is unfair to her career. Luckily, other artists, like her BFF Taylor Swift, agrees with her.

"I find it so frustrating that female musicians are constantly defined by the men they have or haven't dated. It's something I've talked about with [Taylor] a lot," she explained. "She definitely feels that. She gets bothered by it. It's like, you can be a great artist, you can write great songs, but the thing that everyone is going to talk about is some relationship they think you had or not had. It's definitely something we both think happens to female artists over male artists."

Goulding will cover the July issue of Elle U.K.'s Body Confidence issue, which will hit stands on Thursday.
