Jeremy Renner could care less about rumors that he’s gay, despite previously being married to a woman. He proved just how unaffected he is over it in a new interview with Playboy.

The Captain America: Civil War star laughed off the “silly” rumors, joking that it means he’s really made it big now.

“It's like, "Oh, now you've arrived. You're now a giant movie star,” he mused to Playboy. “So I just had a big laugh about it."

"I don't care, ultimately, if that's what people want to think, read and care about,” he continued.

“Look at where we're at socially—leaps and bounds ahead of where we started. That's an amazing thing. To suggest that it's negative, that being gay is a terrible thing, a perversion or whatever—I just don't get it. Don't you wish we were in a world where we're not shaming, judging and boxing people in?"

Indeed we have made progress when it comes to accepting same-sex marriage; just a few days ago the Supreme Court ruled in favor of it in all fifty states, determining it a “fundamental right.”

Renner also talked about his daughter, Ava, 2, and the bitter custody battle with his ex, Sonni Pacheco, saying they split custody 50/50 now.

"When [Ava] drew her first breath and with that palmar reflex grabbed my finger, the thought came to me, 'If all goes well, this same scenario will happen when I take my last breath,'" he said.
