John Cusack compared President Obama to President George W. Bush in a recent interview, commenting on the recent CNN poll that saw Americans now favoring Bush over our current president.

In an interview with the Daily Beast promoting his new film Love & Mercy, he first said Obama is “very similar to Bush” with policies, adding he’s “as bad or worse than Bush” when it comes to his “attacks.”

“Obama has certainly extended and hardened the cement on a lot of Bush’s post-9/11 Terror, Inc. policies, so he’s very similar to Bush in every way that way," he said. "His domestic policy is a bit different, but when you talk about drones, the American Empire, the NSA, civil liberties, attacks on journalism and whistleblowers, he’s as bad or worse than Bush.”

He went on to say that Obama hasn’t started any wars but he has “extended the ones we had.”

However, Cusack was not happy with the Daily Beast for sensationalizing their headline to reflect his political views instead of promoting his long-ranging interview about portraying the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson in his new film and much more.

He took to Twitter to call out the publication, writing, “Shame on u - whomever is doing headlines & editing the interview for taking a long conversation abt Brian Wilson and turning it into salacious gossipy eye catching out of context headline grabbing manipulative bullshit.”

He also scolded, “if you want to talk politics do it seriously.”
