Dinosaurs have all but been extinct for millions of years, yet, they still manage to excite us as seen with Jurassic World's $208 million opening weekend in the North American Box Office. The summer blockbuster, starring Chris Pratt, who is quickly turning into one of Hollywood's biggest stars, takes place 22 years after the events of the original Jurassic Park. Besides the dinosaurs that roam Jurassic World, there are plenty of other famous prehistoric creatures that have done pretty well for themselves since their unfortunate extinction at the end of the Cretaceous Period 65 million years ago. Whether on the big screen or the small screen, dinosaurs have a way of providing pure entertainment with their ferocious and down right scary nature, while sometimes making us laugh and smile as well. In light of Jurassic World's huge success, let's take a look at the Top 10 Fictional Dinosaurs from pop culture.

10. We're Back!A Dinosaur's Story
Starting off the countdown is not just one dinosaur, but an entire clan of them. The number 10 spot belongs to the cast of We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story. This 1993 animated film saw 4 dinosaurs do some time traveling as they embarked on an adventure to New York City. These dinosaurs weren't violent and were hopeful to just enjoy the city that never sleeps. Unfortunately for the crew of dinosaurs that included a John Goodman voiced Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Big Apple wouldn't be able to do much sleeping with this crew walking along.

9. Dino
Yabba Dabba Doo! Not sure if the stone age had any dinosaurs roaming around, but Fred Flintstone was able to get his hands on one. At number 9 on our list, is Fred's fun loving pet dinosaur, Dino. A snorkasaurus, Dino played the role of a dog and was the ideal complement to the Flintstone family especially Fred and Wilma's children, Pebbles and Bamm Bamm, whom Dino interacted with frequently. Dogs are some of the most beloved pets out there, but to have a dinosaur trained like a dog? That's almost perfect. I guess it's true what they say...A dinosaur is a man's best friend.

8. Tiny
At number 8, we have our third film/tv dinosaur to hit the countdown. The 2007 Walt Disney film, Meet the Robinsons, saw a time traveling young boy Lewis trying to find his birth mother. Even though this little guy was quite the inventor, it was another character in the film that really shined. His name was Tiny! Ironically enough, Tiny was quite large; he was a dinosaur in fact. Under the control of his original master, Tiny was agressive and not the friendliest of dinosaurs, but when finally paired up with Lewis, Tiny turned into one of the sweetest dinosaurs you'd ever see. And if anyone thought a T-Rex had it easy, check out this scene from the film that will convince you other wise.

7. Night at the Museum Dinosaur
Number 7 brings us our first non-animated dinosaur. Still a film star, this dinosaur actually comes to life after the extinction! Night at the Museum gives the viewer a look into what may actually be going down at our local museums after hours. In this film, the many attractions of the museum come to life once the museum is closed to the public. The new security guard Larry, played by Ben Stiller, quickly learns of the oddness of the museum. He first begins to notice strange things when he sees the giant skeleton of the T Rex moving. The T Rex makes many appearances throughout the film. As if a a giant dinosaur wasn't already scary enough, a dead one that comes back to life seals the deal.

6. Littlefoot
Before we get to the top 5, we come across the #6 spot that belongs to one of the cuter and more innocent dinosaurs, Littlefoot. From the popular series Land Before Time, it follows many dinosaurs during the time they were prominent. Littlefoot, an apatosaurus, was a young dinosaur who was smart and optimistic and always looking for an adventure. Littlefoot had a close bond with his mother as he was her only son. His mother protected him no matter what and taught him many lessons. If you thought a dinosaur family could never make you cry...(SPOILER ALERT) Land Before Time will change that after Littlefoot's mother tragically dies saving her son. So grab your tissues and get ready for the water works.

5. Yoshi
The first dinosaur in the top 5 is the sidekick of Mario and Luigi, Yoshi. The green creature is always down for a ride whether Mario or Luigi needs some traveling to do. It has been debated what creature Yoshi actually is as some say tyrannosaurus rex while others lean towards chameleon or dragon. Looks to me like this baby dinosaur just enjoys helping his companions no matter what everyone else thinks he is.

4. Reptar
One would think that children wouldn't pick dinosaurs as their favorite animal. One would also think dinosaurs would be extremely frightening to young children. Well, for the babies of the 90's Nickelodeon show, Rugrats, they couldn't get enough of a certain dinosaur. At number 4, is Reptar of course! Tommy Pickles and the rest of the Rugrats had a slight obsession with the green tyrannosaurus rex. Reptar was quite the celebrity as well. He appeared on t-shirts, had his own amusement park, and was even the star of his very own show, Reptar on Ice. Reptar's television success even lead to the creation of real life roller coasters at three amusement parks around the world called the Rugrats Runaway Reptar.

3. Rex
The top 3 is upon us and what better way to start off with then the "ferocious" Rex from the Toy Story films. Appearing in all 3 Toy Story films, Rex was always one of Andy's favorite toys. Another T Rex on the list, Rex worries that his roar isn't scary enough and that he just isn't as scary as a dinosaur is supposed to be. We're not complaining though Rex; its a nice change to have a dinosaur that doesn't make us go running for cover. Your kindness and love for Buzz Lightyear video games got you the number 3 spot on this list.

2. Barney
Falling just short of the number 1 spot, this character is the star of one of the most popular children's shows of all-time. He loves you and you love him! #2 is Barney! The purple tyrannosaurus rex debuted on television in 1992 and delivered song after song and dance after dance to teach lessons and offer positive messages to children. Barney isn't the only dinosaur on the show. He's got a couple of friends including Baby Bop(triceratops), B.J.(protoceratops) and Riff(hadrosaur). Barney ended every episode with a nice little reminder that he loved us which we realize today that we wish we had that now.

1. Godzilla
It has to be hard to top a list full of dinosaurs, but someone has got to do it and what better dinosaur than the largest and most intimidating one out there. It's Godzilla! A giant figure in Japanese culture, Godzilla has scared people across the globe thanks to his many films, television shows, and film adaptations that just keep coming and keep getting scarier and scarier. Godzilla has to take the number one spot! His resume includes an MTV Lifetime Achievement Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Godzilla isn't your every day dinosaur and people have debated what exactly he is. Something mutated and some kind of monster is usually how people begin to describe the creature. Many different opinions have offered varied explanations on whether Godzilla could be a Carnotaurus or a Skorpiovenator or another type, but it all means nothing because all we know for sure is that thing is a walking terror and it could very well be a dinosaur...unless it tells us otherwise.
