Kevin Federline reflects on his rise to fame and the highs and lows he experienced while being married to the biggest pop star in the world.
In 2004, Federline was thrown into the spotlight when he began dating Britney Spears. The pair only dated for a few months before getting engaged in July 2004 and married in a surprise ceremony in September 2004. “That time of my life, it was great,” Federline described to Us Weekly of his relationship with Spears. “It was fun, it was crazy, it was chaos…The limelight, the entertainment business, the lifestyle — period. When you’re 25-years-old, how do you handle that? Nobody can prepare you.”
The duo welcomed two sons together, Sean Preston, 9, and Jayden James, 8, during their two years of marriage. Two months after welcoming Jayden, the "Pretty Girls" singer filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. The backup dancer admitted that he nor Spears are “perfect people” and that they both made mistakes. “I think all of that is just from being young and everything plays a part into it…[but] I have so many great memories, they outweigh the bad,” Federline said. “For us to split up and me say that, it should speak very loudly.”
But even though the pair have gone their separate ways, Federline gives credit to his former wife for helping him find love once more. He admitted that she helped him learn what he likes in a person.
Federline got married to Victoria Prince in 2013 and they share two children together. He admitted that Prince is his “best friend” and that they “want the same things” for their children. Spears also found love again and is in a relationship with producer Charlie Ebersol.
