Whether it’s a man or a woman, people aren’t usually friends with the person who dated their ex directly after them, but it seems Justin Timberlake and Kevin Federline are defying the odds.
Federline, who was once married to Britney Spears and has two children with her, is opening up in a new interview about his unlikely friendship with the man she dated right before him.
He told Us Weekly that they have golfed together and he even went to one of Timberlake's shows in Las Vegas recently.
Federline also admitted when he first got together with Spears it “was awkward and I felt bad,” so he wanted to call Timberlake to smooth things over but “I didn’t have his number."
But now, "We’re cool. Me and J are. I actually just went to his last show in Vegas and hung out with him, got to see a lot of old friends.”
Federline was once a back-up dancer for Timberlake. "I’m friends with all the security guys. [They're] great, they’re incredible," he said. "We’ve actually - guys that work with him have worked with us and still work with me, still to this day. You know everybody, you’re friends with everybody."
In addition, they have a mutual friend. Federline’s best friend is Timerlake’s choreographer.
“You get older, you grow up, and you realize that was just a time in your life. Sh-t happens,” he said, adding they never talk about Spears when they’re together because "it is what it is with us."
